How can I clean grout and prevent it from getting dirty again?
Grout that slowly turns grey can ruin the look of an otherwise beautiful tiled surface. The good news is that you can usually restore the original colour quickly – and then keep it cleaner for longer.
Quick answer:
For cleaning, use POINTING CLEANER – Grout Cleaner. After the surface dries, protect it with POINTING PROTECTOR – Grout Protector to slow down re‑soiling.
Grout is porous and absorbs moisture. Regular mopping, splash water and dirt particles can penetrate the pores and gradually discolour the joints. In kitchens, workshop areas and garages, oily residues can make this even worse.

1) Clean: Apply POINTING CLEANER – Grout Cleaner to the grout (a grout-width brush works best). After about one minute, wipe with a wet sponge or cloth and rinse thoroughly with plenty of water. Repeat if necessary. 2) Protect: Once the grout is clean and dry, apply POINTING PROTECTOR – Grout Protector in two coats using a grout-width brush. The second coat should be applied while the first is still damp (wet-on-wet). More about impregnation: How to impregnate? |

If oily stains do not come off with Pointing Cleaner, you may need OIL STAIN REMOVER. For prevention, use POINTING PROTECTOR MAX – Oil‑repellent Grout Protector on suitable grout to reduce oil and water absorption. |
| Important: some modern grout formulations may contain ingredients that reduce silicone impregnation performance. Always do a test patch before full treatment. |
