What surfaces can AQUA-STOP W® UNIVERSAL be used on?

It is suitable for dense mineral substrates such as concrete, brick, render, clinker, aerated concrete (YTONG), sand-lime brick, reconstituted stone and natural stone. It is not suitable for gypsum-based materials.

Can it be applied to damp surfaces?

Yes. The product can be applied even to slightly damp substrates. However the surface must be clean and free from standing water.

How many coats are recommended?

Apply at least two coats. Apply the second coat wet-on-wet, before the first coat has fully dried.

What is the typical coverage?

Typically 0.20–0.60 litres per square metre, depending on porosity and absorbency. Always do a small test area to determine exact consumption.

Does it change the appearance of the surface?

On most mineral substrates it forms an invisible, breathable water-repellent protection. A test application is recommended, especially on sensitive stones.

What should I watch out for during application?

Mask non-absorbent surfaces such as glass and metal. The product cures quickly and dried residues are difficult to remove. Work in a well-ventilated area and use protective gloves and safety goggles.

What is AQUA-STOP W® UNIVERSAL used for?

AQUA-STOP W® UNIVERSAL is a high-performance impregnation that creates durable water-repellent protection on mineral, porous substrates. It reduces wetting and helps limit the adhesion of dirt.

Makes the surface water-repellent and easier to keep clean
Helps reduce freeze damage and slows down weathering
Helps reduce efflorescence and salt staining

Suitable for: concrete, brick, render, clinker, aerated concrete, sand-lime brick, reconstituted stone and natural stone.

Note: solvent-containing product. Indoors, use only with intensive ventilation.

Application

Preparation: the surface must be free from dust and contaminants. Remove loose, friable parts. A test application is always recommended.

Application: apply by pouring-on or coarse (low-pressure) spraying so the substrate becomes saturated and the product can absorb.

Two coats: apply at least two coats. Apply the second coat before the first has fully dried (wet-on-wet).

Masking: before application, carefully cover windows and non-absorbent surfaces. The product cures so quickly that residues are very difficult (or impossible) to remove once dry. If it splashes onto glass, wash it off immediately with soapy water or, if necessary, a suitable solvent.

Application temperature: 5–30 °C. The surface must not be overheated.

Storage and safety

Storage: keep in the original, tightly closed container at 0–30 °C.

Shelf life: in the original, unopened packaging at least 24 months from the date on the label. After expiry, check with a small test first.

After opening: keep hermetically closed, as it can react with moisture in the air.

Narration (English): In this demonstration, the rendered surface has been treated with AQUA-STOP W® UNIVERSAL. Water is poured onto the wall to compare treated and untreated areas. On the treated side, the water beads up and runs off, leaving the surface visibly drier (the caption appears). Where the surface is untreated, the render darkens as it absorbs moisture. This water-repellent effect helps reduce wetting, slows down weathering, and keeps mineral surfaces cleaner for longer.
