Clinker Protector – clinker brick surface
Typical issues it helps with:
  • Reduces capillary water uptake in clinker façades and walls
  • Helps prevent damp patches and staining
  • Reduces salt/nitre efflorescence
  • Improves resistance to freeze–thaw and de-icing salt stress
  • Invisible protection: breathable, does not form a film
High-performance water repellent for mineral surfaces – durable, invisible protection.
Water-repellent protection for clinker brick surfaces – impregnation against dampness, efflorescence and frost damage

CLINKER IMPREGNATION – Clinker Protector

Clinker Protector – application example
What is CLINKER IMPREGNATION – Clinker Protector used for?

CLINKER IMPREGNATION – Clinker Protector is a water-repellent impregnation developed specifically for porous clinker brick surfaces. It penetrates into the pore structure and forms a hydrophobic layer that repels water and significantly reduces the risk of freeze–thaw and salt damage.

After application, the surface becomes water-repellent and absorbs far less moisture, which helps reduce soiling/discolouration and surface deterioration. The original texture remains breathable; the treatment is invisible and does not form a film.

Important: Do not skip the joints during treatment, because water can enter through them. Always carry out a test on a small, inconspicuous area before full application.
Processing
1) Surface preparation The clinker surface must be sound, dry and clean: free from dust, oil, salts/efflorescence, algae and other contaminants. Remove loose parts and friable joints. For new masonry, allow at least 28 days of curing.
2) Surface dryness Clinker Protector should only be applied on a visibly dry surface. On damp, waterlogged masonry the water in the pores prevents proper penetration and may result in patchiness.
3) Application Apply by low-pressure spray or flooding. Work evenly to saturation (wet-on-wet principle): the surface should be evenly wet but must not run.
4) Second coat Apply the second coat wet-on-wet. For general use, two consecutive coats provide durable water-repellent performance.
5) Remove excess If glossy spots remain, wipe off the excess with a dry, lint-free cloth to avoid patchiness.
6) Drying and protection Protect the treated surface from rain for at least 4–6 hours after application. Full water-repellent performance develops after 24 hours.
7) Consumption Consumption depends on absorbency and porosity, typically 0.3–0.5 litres per square metre. Practical average: about 0.4 litres per square metre. Always determine exact consumption with a test area.
Storage and safety

Storage: keep Clinker Protector in the original, tightly closed container, in a cool, dry and well‑ventilated place, protected from direct sunlight. Protect from frost and heat.

Opened container: reseal immediately after use. Use the contents as soon as possible after opening and store only in tightly closed packaging.

Protective equipment: wear solvent‑resistant protective gloves and safety goggles (or face protection), and suitable workwear. Ensure good ventilation during application and avoid inhaling vapours/aerosols.

First aid: In case of skin or eye contact, rinse immediately with plenty of water and wash with soap; seek medical advice if symptoms persist. If swallowed, do not induce vomiting; seek medical attention immediately and show the Safety Data Sheet.

Safety Data Sheet: detailed occupational safety, fire safety and environmental instructions are provided in the REACH Safety Data Sheet, available from the manufacturer or distributor.
